Parade Rules and Regulations
Final updates will be posted in advance before the 2024 Parade!
- The distribution of political propaganda and the throwing of candy or items by parade participants is prohibited.
- All participants will assume responsibility for the safety of their vehicles and floats, and for the safety of float construction, riders, power units and tow linkages, as well as for the safety of the spectators and property along the parade route.

Be sure the person in charge of your group at the parade contacts all of their participants to let them know about the time and place of your line up. Remember to bring water and whatever else is needed to keep comfortable while you wait for the parade to begin (sunscreen, snacks, hats or umbrellas).

Dear Parade Participant,
Please read the following to understand the rules and facts of the 2024 parade.
- Parade is Saturday June 8. 2024, at 4pm, rain or shine. There is NO rain date.
- Parade line up starts at 2:30pm. Please be in your assigned spot by 3:30pm.
- The line up area is on State Street from Green Street to 7th Street and Green Street from State Street to Fairview Avenue. All units unless directed otherwise must enter the parade line up from Fairview Avenue, by Stewart’s, and check in with the Flag Day committee member who will be at the Fairview Avenue entrance.
- Upon entering Fairview Avenue, the Flag Day committee member will tell you which assigned number your unit has. The line up may be posted in local newspapers and our website; however the assigned unit number will change without notice, therefore only rely on the assigned number given upon check-in.
- Please be mindful while driving through the parade line up. There will be many individuals in the roadway. There are no personal vehicles allowed on the parade line up unless the vehicle is in the parade, or unless there is a handicapped individual in the vehicle.
- The best area to drop off people for the parade is near the intersection of Columbia and 8th streets.
- There may be units assigned to stage in the parking lot behind One Hudson City Centre (bank parking lot). There is absolutely no parking of personal vehicles allowed in this lot. Only vehicles in the parade will be allowed in the lot. All others will be towed.
- The best place to park personal vehicles is down towards the waterfront park or the Hudson Jr/Sr High School Parking lot. There will be a shuttle running between the Waterfront (Train Station), Warren Street, the parade line up, and the High School parking lot. This shuttle will start at 1:00 pm and run until 3:30pm. There will be a shuttle running after the parade along this same route. This shuttle will run from 5:00pm (or end of the parade, whichever is first) and end at 8:00pm.
- The parade route starts at Green and State Streets, proceeds down Columbia Street to Park Place. Parade proceeds over Park Place to Warren Street and then down Warren Street ending at Front Street. Participants will then proceed down Front Street where units can disband towards the Train Station area.
- Units in the parade must stay in the parade for the entire duration of the parade. No ducking out prior to Front Street.
- There will be a reviewing stand at Front and Warren Streets announcing your unit.
- Units can hand out candy to parade watchers, but the candy may not be thrown to bystanders. It must be physically handed to watchers.
- There is no political propaganda allowed. Any units in violation of this will be asked to leave the parade.
- While driving in the parade please maintain a slow and safe speed behind the vehicle or unit in front of you. Bands will be stopping at the reviewing stand for performances which may briefly pause the parade.
- Flag Day reserves the right to remove any unit from the parade at any time due to violations of the rules listed above.
- Please pay attention to the directions given by Flag Day personnel who will have blue shirts on marked parade official, law enforcement, or first responders.

Please read the following to understand the rules and facts of the 2024 parade.

- The line up area is on State Street from Green Street to 7th Street and Green Street from State Street to Fairview Avenue. All units unless directed otherwise must enter the parade line up from Fairview Avenue, by Stewart’s, and check in the Flag Day committee member who will be at the Fairview Avenue area.

There will be a shuttle running after the parade along this same route. This shuttle will run from 5:00pm (or end of the parade, whichever is first) and end at 8:00pm.
- The parade route starts at Green and State Streets, proceeds down Columbia Street to Park Place. Parade proceeds over Park Place to Warren Street and then down Warren Street ending at Front Street. Participants will then proceed down Front Street where units can disband towards the Train Station area.

- There will be a reviewing stand at Front and Warren Streets announcing your unit. All bands must start performing music as they turn onto Park Place in front of 7thStreet Park. Bands must perform a minimum of three numbers as they march down the street and before arriving at the reviewing stand.
- All bands must stop in front of the reviewing stand and perform a three-to-four-minute number before proceeding to the dismantling zone down by the train station.
- Units can hand out candy to parade watchers, but the candy may not be thrown. It must be physically handed to watchers.

- If you have animals, you must clean up after them. If you have horses, bags must be attached to them for their droppings, or someone must follow behind them during parade route to pick it up off the street. DO NOT leave on the street for the Marchers behind you to walk through it.
- The staging area for animals must be as clean as you find it when you arrive. There can be no debris left behind including hay. Anyone found to have not followed these rules will be removed from the parade and will not be allowed back to future events.
- Flag Day reserves the right to remove any unit from the parade at any time due to violations of the rules listed above.
