Tom has been involved with Flag Day for over 15 years. Tom has come full circle with the organization going from watching the parade as a child to being vice president and seeing the amount of work that goes into making Flag Day happen. It is worth every minute when you get to see the crowd enjoying the festivities just like Tom did as a kid.

Hello, my name is Sharon Hover and I am a proud member of the Hudson Flag Day committee since 2020, currently as the treasurer. I think it is important to honor our flag and to thank our military who have sacrificed so much for us. What better way than a parade and festival!
I am currently a youth group leader and trustee at Trinity United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Stockport Fire Co. Auxiliary.
My husband, Don, and I have four adult children and seven grandchildren.
Born and raised in Hudson NY. Graduated from Hudson High class of ‘91. Graduated from SUNY Oneonta with a BS in Psychology. Employed by Columbia Co DSS for 27 years. Currently position-Supervisor of Foster Care/Adoption.
Proud mom of two amazing individuals. Self proclaimed gym addict😊. Love being apart of the community that I was raised in.
I was born and raised in Hudson, NY and graduated from Hudson High School in 1991. I started my college career at Columbia Greene Community College and then moved on to SUNY Albany. Being a year away from an undergraduate degree in biology, my grandmother, Betty Oakes, convinced me to go back to school for teaching. I wasn’t sure about this decision but it turned out to be a fabulous, life-altering, idea! I graduated with a Master’s Degree in teaching from The College of Saint Rose. Soon after, Ichabod Crane Central School District offered me a position in 2000, and ever since I have taught third, fourth and fifth grades for the past 24 years. It’s such an amazing experience to watch little humans grow and flourish. I also enjoy working out and listening to live music. Most importantly, I am the proud mama of two fur babies, Roxy and Harley, who are my world. After my best friend and father, Charles, passed I was eager to join the Hudson Flag Day committee where he was an integral part of making the parade what it is today. I’m honoring him by taking over his position that involves escorting the Grand Marshals to the reviewing stand. I look forward to continuing the traditions my father worked so hard with the committee to establish.
Coming soon.
Hi, my name is Amy Conte and I joined the Flag Day Committee in September of 2019. Because of covid, my first involvement with the actual parade was in 2021. What a great time we all had. A lot goes into the planning of the parade and I was amazed at what was accomplished in such a short period of time to make the parade successful. Christine Grossman does an excellent job leading the way and the committee all pulls together to make this parade happen. Fundraising is important and we are grateful for all the support we receive.
I work for The Bank of Greene County. For the past 18 years I have held many positions at the bank, currently Corporate Cash Management Officer. Having lived in Columbia County all my life I enjoy working with the community, helping everyone with all their personal and business needs.
I am also involved with Dollars for Scholars and Trinity United Methodist Church youth group. I became and Elk in the Hudson Lodge in 2023. I have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and playing with my grandchildren Addison and Gavin.
If you are looking to have some fun and being a part of this wonderful event let us know.
Holly Tanner has been a member of the Flag Day committee for 8 years. She has been the Columbia County Clerk for 22 years, having been elected in 2002 and is the longest serving female elected official in Columbia County history. As County Clerk Holly runs the DMV office in addition to the Clerk office and she is the Clerk of the Supreme and County Courts and the County Records Management officer. Holly served as the President of the NYS Association of County Clerks in 2011 which saw historic legislation passed in regards to increasing efficiencies in the clerk office by allowing e-filing of certain court documents. She was also instrumental in helping clerk run DMV offices get a larger portion of online revenue for local county government to help offset taxes, instead of all of those dollars going to NYS. She received a Lifetime Achivement Award from the County Clerks in 2018, was Clerk of the Year in 2011 and 2021, has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Women in Columbia County and has been recognized by the Columbia County Sportsmen Association for her work towards good environmental stewardship and support of sporting in Columbia County in addition to many other awards.
Outside interests other than the Flag Day parade include gardening, farming issues and 4H, the Columbia County Fair where Holly helps with both the 4H and Open Dairy shows, and her family as a mom of 2 kids. Holly and her husband and kids reside in Ghent.
